Key Person Disability Insurance allows for the practice to place a contract on a key employee that would pay a benefit to the company if that key employee was unable to do their job due to a disability. Do you have another physician or PA who works for you? Are they critical to the success and profitability of your practice? Does having them there allow you to take more time to focus on the growth of your practice or to simply work less? If so, you should consider a key person contract on them. The practice is free to use that monthly benefit for whatever the practice feels is necessary, whether that is paying the monthly bills, hiring a locum, use as a recruiting bonus or incentive, you decide.
