Issue and Participation Limits of Disability Insurance

Issue and Participation Guidelines are standards of Physician Disability Insurance policies that determine how much coverage you qualify for based on your age, occupation, current health, and a number of other factors. Most disability insurance providers will issue between $15k-$20k per month in coverage, but they will participate with another carrier to get you even more coverage.

The big difference between group physician disability insurance policies and individual policies is that group policies calculate your actual benefits based on your health at the time you are trying to collect disability insurance benefits. Individual policies calculate your benefit limits based on your health at the time you originally purchase the policy.
